Sightseeing

George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens:  Located just 16 miles south of Washington, DC, the home of our first president is on the banks of the Potomac River.  Tours of the historic plantation feature the mansion, slave quarters, stables, greenhouse and Washington’s Tomb.

Arlington National Cemetery:   Veterans from all of the nation’s wars are buried in Arlington National Cemetery.  The changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is particularly moving.

The Marine Corps Memorial depicting the raising of the American Flag in Iwo Jima is near the cemetery.

Play Ball!  The Baltimore Orioles will be hosting the Toronto Blue Jays from May 25th through May 27th and the Detroit Tigers from May 28th through May 31st at Camden Yards.

Camden Yards is located near the Baltimore Inner Harbor where the only Civil War ship floating today, the U.S.S. Constellation, is docked.

If you visit the Inner Harbor, be sure to get crab cakes at Phillips Harborplace Restaurant.

National Aquarium Baltimore:  Near the Inner Harbor, the National Aquarium is a popular site for families featuring more than 16,500 animals.
