Elk Hunting

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Mike and I went elk hunting this week in Routt County, Colorado. After several days of watching the elk were we were able to find a good place to take one. After making a stalk from over 600 yards away, Mike made a great 300+ yard, uphill shot in low light to get this great looking 4×5 bull elk. It was a great shot and the bull went down where he was shot. Have a look at the photos.

Today Adam, John, Mike and I went fishing on Mike’s boat. It was a bright, sunny, warm day. It was probably near 90 on the water. Although we didn’t get many fish, I was able to get this video of Adam catching a dolphin.

Florida Keys from boat

Florida Keys from boat

We finally made it to the Keys. We passed through Card Sound, Barnes Sound, Blackwater Sound, and Buttonwood Sound where this photo was taken. The water is starting to become green and blue unlike the brownish tint of Key Biscayne. We have about 40 miles to our destination on Marathon Key.

Miami for lunch

Miami Skyline

Miami Skyline

After breakfast in Ft. Lauderdale we fueled up in Hallandale and motored towards Miami. There were many seemingly unnecessary slow and no-wake zones. We still think we are making bettert time in the ICW than the ocean. We arrived in Miami at about 11:30. There are a lot of boats, jet skis, and cruise ships out today. We will probably eat lunch while underway.

Sunrise in Ft. Lauderdale

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

We made our way south in the ICW seeing few other boats. We cleared many bridges by only a few feet after Mike removed the outriggers. One bridge was too low though and we had to wait about 15 minutes for it to open. We eventually made it to Ft. Lauderdale about 7:00am – just in time to see the morning sun light up the rows of superyachts.
