This will probably be the last video I post of diving in Key Largo. Of all the videos I took it is probably my favorite. This nurse shark, Ginglymostoma cirratum, was very gentle and calm even as I followed it around the reef. I hope you enjoy the video.

Nurse shark
Tuesday, October 27th, 2009Lobster
Sunday, October 25th, 2009Although this isn’t my best video, I think it shows the spiny lobster, Panulirus argus, pretty well. To take this video I had to hold the camera upside down and point the camera without being able to see the viewfinder while I was vertical with my feet up and my head down.
Grouper
Friday, October 23rd, 2009I took video of this Black Grouper, Mycteroperca bonaci , in Key Largo, Florida on 3 October 2009. Since this is a protected area where no spearfishing is allowed the grouper let me get very close. In areas where spearfishing is allowed the groupers flee whenever they see a diver.
Permit
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009I was surprized to see this Permit, Trachinotus falcatus, swimming towards me. Fortunately I was able to get a few seconds of video of it. The permit is a highly regarded gamefish and underwater they appear to be fast swimmers.
Yellowtail Snapper part 2
Monday, October 19th, 2009A second video of yellowtail snapper, Ocyurus chrysurus. In this video, I was able to swim through a school of snapper and they didn’t seem to mind. It was very relaxing to swim with the school.
Hogfish
Friday, October 16th, 2009Another video I took in Key Largo. The hogfish, Lachnolaimus maximus, is prized for its excellent meat – firm, flaky, and delicious. It is able to change its color from almost all white to a pinkish-red depending on the location. It is a member of the wrasse family and is difficult to catch on a hook and line. I have taken many while spearfishing and this large one was very approachable as it was in a marine reserve. Hope you enjoy it.
Southern stingray
Wednesday, October 14th, 2009A video of Dasyatis americana, or Southern stingray, I took while diving on Mike’s wreck in Key Largo earlier this month. I hope you enjoy it!
Lobsters!
Monday, October 12th, 2009Mike D., Mike F., and I went lobster diving and spearfishing today. We got 11 lobsters, 2 hogfish, and 1 mutton snapper. Have a look at the photos.

Jim, Mke D., and Mike F. lobster dive.
Adam catching a dolphin
Sunday, October 11th, 2009Today Adam, John, Mike and I went fishing on Mike’s boat. It was a bright, sunny, warm day. It was probably near 90 on the water. Although we didn’t get many fish, I was able to get this video of Adam catching a dolphin.
Green Moray Eel
Friday, October 9th, 2009I was lucky enough to catch this free-swimming green moray eel while diving Mike’s wreck in Key Largo, Florida.
